A valid driving licence corresponding to the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Rutherglen office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is necessary to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the car. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level; additional refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please notify us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, along with an applicable administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial responsibility. It's advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damages or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of your insurance choices.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or engaging in hazardous maneuvers. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited, as is sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized individuals to drive. Operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol is unacceptable. Adhering to passenger and weight limits is required, and driving outside designated geographical areas without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Rutherglen will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Local Regulations
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this jurisdiction.
